Why Didn't I think of that #14 - Short Hands

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - ThistieandJug

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Vintage Wooden Farmhouse Dough Bowl Mint Julep Green Primitive Wood Fruit Display Chopping

When someone puts the tag "for little kids" but yet I need it i start to worry. I think they should think twice about my self-esteem before they label something "for children" when I just might like this handy invention because I am messy and for the most part lazy. I would be a triple threat but that would require work. So I'm a big fan of recycling so when I saw how you could re-use a plastic bottle for good - the penguins and and I think it's great.

Short Hands, tall sink? No more mess. Or if your like me it's inevitable but at least this is pretty cool.

Happy Wednesday!

My Monday #6 - Layered Frames

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - SofaCitySweethearts

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Pincushion - Felted Cupcake in Vanilla Mint

This tutorial happened by accident. My mother (or somebody really important) always told me to make lemonade out of lemons so I figured don't let a silly drop of the frame and break all the glass so you can never use it again - ruin your day. Apologies to my high school English teachers for that sentence, it just had to be done. So here was the situation. I hate to throw away things, almost hoarding but with crafts - so it's ok right? And I had these 2 frames that had no glass but I thought were great and then bam, I realized they fit perfectly as a pair. So out came my hammer and nails and a little bit of digging for this candle and we have a layered frame.

1. 2 frames of different sizes
2. Something cool and 3-D to hang in the middle =)
3. Craft Paint (or any leftovers really)

1. Large Frame (use a coupon) 3-5 $
2. Small Frame (garage sale - $2)
3. Craft Paint - free (from my craft room)
4. Handmade Cross Candle - $5 (but you could use anything in your house for free!)

Total - Under $12
*BUT keep in mind - you can use OLD frames and old candles and really do this for free =)

Happy Monday!

Dear Peta. Please don't write me. I think this tutorial is precious and cute and a great twist on the always boring khaki and tan safari. In a little boys room = how fun. At a birthday party = how fun. So, please know these are fake but cute. I mean a mounted mini-elephant. Please. Cute.

Happy Thursday!

Why Didn't I think of that #13 - Pocket Charger

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - EyeCaptureArt

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - SALE new Fashion Accessories Scarf Shawl Ruffle Gray Scarf

I am now just starting to begin being comfortable with sewing. Nothing crazy. I bought a pattern and for the sheer fact that I bought it and it is sitting on the shelf makes me feel like I am way better than I am. Still on squares and straight stitches. That's why I feel I may actually be able to accomplish this why didn't I think of that. I ALWAYS and I mean without fail knock my phone off the night stand. Or my favorite - try not to get out of bed and grab it while it's still attached to the cord. Yeah. Admit it. You've busted it to. God forbid we actually get out of the bed.

So can you make it? Maybe - but it's still a great idea =)

Charger Pocket for your phone (that's cute!)

Happy Wednesday!

My Monday #5 - Fabric Cabinet Backgrounds

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - FiveLittleGems

#2 - ITEM of the DAY -  Bamboo Wrap Fleece in EcoFriendly Fabric, Plum Purple with Vine Print, Cozy Warm for Fall and Autumn, Also in Navy and Green - TRICIA

My husband and I have been watching WAY too much HGTV. In fact we have been endlessly watching renovation realities where every couple looks like they must have therapy afterwards. So in our pure genius we decided - we can do that.... $70 later and lots of new tools and old kitchen cabinets from the Re-Store (big fan BTW) we had ourselves a project. After ripping off half the wall and way too many cans of spray paint. Tah-Dah. We have cabinets in the laundry room!

But I wanted to do something fun inside. I thought paper but that would wrinkle. And after searching near and far I found THIS tutorial.

Now I am not a fan of open - as that would call for me to be organized BUT I do love the idea of opening my cabinets and bam - a fun pop of color.

1. Foam Board - $3 - $8 (depends what size you get)
2. Fabric (cheap) - I used some I already had
3. Nails - already own a billion
4. A screwdriver to take off the doors
5. A trusty hammer

Total - $ under $10 (if your thrifty!)

Skill Level - Medium (or fairly easy if you understand tools)
* Pretty easy tutorial to follow and a GREAT way to spice up any cabinet and or shelf!

Tutorial Thursday #19 -DIY Gift Bag

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - lonkoosh

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Woodland Rustic Wedding Invitations

Thank goodness my husband does not care what the bag I wrap his gift in looks like. I think I can actually say that none of my friends truly care...maybe it's just me. Well I always find cute gift bags but I really never wanna pay they $8 World Market price - but then I always do because I just cannot stand ugly gift bags. So here is the perfect tutorial for those of us who have champagne gift bag tastes on a beer budget. Make your own!

Happy Thursday!

Why Didn't I think of that #12 - Baggy Bottle Top

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - Letsplaytag

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Bear teddy softie plushie toy toddlers children chocolate brown plush corduroy white red checked shawl bow

Happy Day after Valentines! Yes still coming down from my chocolate / caffeine / heart shaped pizza  (oh yes that happened) high. My husband and I like to do corny - we take great pride in that OR we are cheap. Psh already have a plan for next year - waffle house in a limo. I know - we roll classy.
For all you bakers out there - this is a wonderful why didn't I think of that - especially if you NEVER have rubber bands or chip clips like myself.

Cut Bottle Top to Pour Chocolate Chips

1. Cut off top of waterbottle
2.Pull through baggy
3. Fold baggy over water bottle spout
4. And cap!

So easy and I really think you could use this just about on any package and seal it a lot better than the good ole rubber band.

Happy Wednesday!

My Monday #4 - Burlap Mason Jars

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - Fluxglass

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Love Scrabble Photograph 8x10 - Vintage Scrabble Tiles - I love you more than whiskey

First let me say sorry about Fridays. They in essence are scheduled to happen but then, i forget. I could blame my blonde hair or my inability to write anything down but I simply blame it on my need to see the Vow. I know. It was an EXCELLENT excuse. Go see it.

Back to my new idea that i straight up stole from Pinterest. I love mason jars and also burlap so I thought how fun to combine the two.

1. Mason Jar (pack of 6 = $7 or individually $1.50 with a good hobby lobby coupon)
2. Burlap - usually around $1 - $2 a yard
3. Burlap String - a HUGE roll - $6.99 (use a coupon for 4.99)

1. Cut burlap ( it will fray)
2. Cut as long a string as you like - I did about half a yard to go around a couple of times.
3. Glue burlap to jar in back and front
4. Tie string and glue.

WHY i love these.
1. Easy - under $10
2. Great for all seasons - at Thanksgiving I filled them with corn
3. Shabby Chic and look great on a mantle as well!

Happy Monday!

Tutorial Thursday #18 - Easy Valentine Gift

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - Sadiesez

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Wood Name Letters For Nursery B painted light teal and distressed 12 inch tall wooden B in Font 5,Wood Alphabet

I know you're about to be really jealous right now but I have spent my last 4 years of Valentine's day with a bunch of 14 year olds. I know. It's a dream. A day a look forward to....What makes me laugh is all the flowers and candy and stuffed animals and funny cards. But all I can think about is all that = lots of moolah. So if you want to branch away from the same old same old (although mind you I would NEVERturn away a good dozen roses) this is a fun twist for a great friend or "special friend."

Happy Thursday!

Why Didn't I think of that #11

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - HyacinthVintage

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - art deco pale pink crystal rhinestone sterling silver plated earrings leverback earwires bridal jewelry bridesmaid gift valentine day gift

Groceries are too hard to organize. My husband loves to sort them into some kind of order but me - it's in the order of what I want to eat. Healthy in the back - chocolate in the front. Yeah. But what is even worse than groceries are cutting boards and flat items that like to get lost in my cabinet in the dark depths of the corners. So this is awesome and genius and so simple. I believe they are tension rods and now you can organize right by your chocolate.

Happy Wednesday!
