Bucket List Checkoff

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - VintageByLeni

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Blue Bird: Hand painted Ceramic Bird

I did something on my bucket list a few weeks ago. My bucket list really isn't quite that long yet and involves winning the lottery so fingers crossed that me and some people (I'm a sharer) will win Mega Millions today. I'm stirring up the numbers now. Unfortunately it's not the lottery but this has been on my bucket list since college but I was always WAY to scared to do it (and poor). But then I thought hey why the heck not, it's only hair. I know, those words hurt being typed. It's not only hair. I love my hair. Curly, frizzy, blonde and all. Then this happened. I must say  it was a good risk because I might never go back.

Tutorial Thursday #24 - Peep Pillows

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - BeeJayKay

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - The Kiss by Gustav Klimt iPhone Cover - Free US Shipping

Peeps kind of gross me out. Please don't send the Easter bunny to come and attack me for that statement, but it's true. The most I ever did with peeps were to blow them up in the microwave. Hey. It's science. But can I say I've always WANTED to love them just like Pez but I couldn't do it until know. Mostly because these look like peeps but I don't have to have a stomach ache afterwards. Cute and no pepto = a great time for everyone.

Why Didn't I think of that #17 - Mason Jar Lids

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - MayaHoney

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Champagne Vintage Flower Lace Applique Bridal Wedding Pumps Shoes Bride

Parmesan Cheese. I think you can put this on anything. Minus Ice Cream. Well maybe, I don't have the nerve to try it. After I use the bottle like a good citizen I recycle and move on with my merry way. IT NEVER occurs to me that you can repurpose any part of that packaging. Although now that I think about it the jar is very WELL packaged considering we are dealing with just cheese. Apparently really important cheese. And to think this very sturdy lid fits so perfectly on one of my other favorite things - MASON JARS! Now I don't like the green I think I would spray paint them fun colors but a pop top is WAY easier than the screw top. And I'm down for cute and easy.

My Monday #9 - Earning Rewards

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - Vintagemarmalade

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Bonny Naranja wayfarer Vintage Sunglasses

I like free stuff. Its almost to the point now where I literally cannot buy anything unless it is on sale because in the back of my mind I know I can get it for free or semi-free. I stalk this site SOUTHERN SAVERS on a daily basis because she has such a great collection of deals and steals. Now I know you don't need everything and some products just really aren't worth taking even if they GAVE it to you - but some do pay off. Here are my favorite recommendations.

1. ShopKick.
You need a smart phone for this app but I have literally earned $60 to Old Navy for doing...nothing. All you have to do is walk into stores (I choose ones I am already going to like Target, Old Navy, Macys) and get points. You get points for just walking in and in some cases for scanning certain items. Every once in awhile you get up to 200 kicks (points) for walking in. On average 2500 points = $10, so for doing NOTHING other than what you had already planned to do = totally worth it.

Use Code - CHESTNUT6992 (Phone App) OR http://get.shopkick.com/chestnut6992 (computer) - to get started. 50 Free Points!

2. Recyclebank.
I am relatively new to this one but I like anything eco-friendly and nice to the Earth. Because I like the earth. We are friends. You earns points by watching videos, pledging to recycle, and if you like Kashi cereal you get LOTS of points by eating it. You can then exchange those points for valuable coupons to get great deals. Once again - getting rewarded for what you probably do already.

Click HERE to be taken to the site to sign up!

3. AllYouMagazine
I am a HUGE fan of this magazine and they frequently on the Southern Savers site offer a full year subscription for around $4-$8 dollars. Considering in each magazine they offer almost $50 in coupons it's a great deal. Plus they provide great cheap DIY projects and legit ways to earn money on the side. It's a fun read plus they have a great website with contests and coupons. If you win a trip to Hawaii you better share.

Bandwagon

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - TheCopperFoxShop

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Steampunk Hunger Games Mockingjay Necklace

I apologize ahead of time if you are tired of hearing about a pre-teen book about children killing each other but people...it is so good. I must confess. I bought my tickets for tonight 2 weeks ago. Yep. I joined the bandwagon and I have nothing to hide. Though I seriously considered wearing a pack of bows and arrows on my back and my hair in a side braid I am fighting the urge for the impending embarrassment of my husband. Plus he wouldn't dress like Peeta and to not be matching.... embarrassing. I hope it is as amazing as the books. I don't want another Twilight disaster on my hands.

Happy Friday/Weekend!

Tutorial Thursday #23 - Whale of an Obsession

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - TobyMaMa

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Unisex WHALES Deep V Neck american apparel XS S M L (10 Colors Available)

I don't know why I have an obsession with whales all of a sudden. I haven't been to Sea World or watched Free Willy so all I have left to blame is Homegoods and Pinterest. Maybe Animal Planet. The three evils. I especially like this whale because I am on a mission to make a home-made toy for my nephew. My mom made me a homemade bunny with a ballerina costume one year for Christmas and I loved it. So banking on the fact that this is in the genes, I think I can rock this stuffed whale.

Manly Right.

Why Didn't I Think of That #16 - Coffee Mate Snack Container

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - TheFrostedPetticoat
*ohhhh I LOVE vintage / any buttons!

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Gold Arrow Ring
*This reminds me of the Hunger Games = nerdy excited.

I drink coffee on a daily basis. If I could take it intravenously I would. It's such a staple in my life. And when I say coffee I really mean creamer with a dash of coffee and splenda. That's how your supposed to do it right? Well since the world is now all eco-friendly and I drink lots of creamer, I mean coffee this why didn't I think of that seemed quite appropriate.

Maybe I was too high on creamer to ever realize this was possible. I blame it on the wrapper.

Happy Wednesday!

*P.S. Coupon code coming soon for the good ole shop! Stay Tuned.

My Monday #8 - Succulent Garden

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - NotTuesday

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - vintage 1960's geometric mustard linen dress

Succulent is not a word I use often. In fact it makes me quite uncomfortable to say it and or write it. Why they can't just say squishy plants you can't kill even if you tried. See. Much more appropriate. Not gonna lie stole this idea right out of the Lowe's store "creative" magazine - a.k.a. look at all the wonderful things you can do with stuff you can buy here. And they are right. Easy, not the cheapest, but it doesn't die. At least not yet. 2 weeks down.

Materials:
1. One glass Bowl - I suggest a large one - 12 to 14 inches (got mine at Garden Ridge)
2. Small Bag of potting soil (Lowes)
3. Small bag of gravel or rocks (Lowes)
4. Different array of "succulent" plants - at least one large and 5 tiny (Lowes)

Total Cost - around $40
* Depending on what types of plants you use. Unfortunately those little succulent plants are not cheap BUT you can do this on a much smaller scale and maybe when they have a sale.

Recommend - Yes - it looks great on my counter. See. And still alive. Double bonus.

Level - EASY - even the black thumb people can rock this.

Happy Monday!

TGIF Spring Break

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - WhichGoose

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Floral full ruffle mini skirt, handmade, elastic waist - SALE

This day has been long needed. Not only am I getting to wear a hoodie and jeans to work (double score) today is the Friday before Spring Break (triple score). Hallelujah. I am going to get so much done in terms of crafting and maybe not so much in cleaning and laundry but my priorities are straight right? So in keeping with this lazy position I am taking a week off from the blog. Enjoy your week and hopefully I do not break any bones while I snowboard. Fingers Crossed.

Happy Friday!

Tutorial Thursday #22 - 3D Cork Board

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - GiftAndTalents

#2- ITEM of the DAY - Mid Century Modern Table Lamp - White Ceramic and Walnut 1960s

Cork Boards are super functional. I have to write everything down and sticking it up where I can find it really helps me out. Of course this ends up being my hand but I am looking for a more fashion forward way than ink of my thumb to remember things. Cork board is great but I'm not gonna lie, sitting there in that boring old frame is like blah what to do. Which is why this tutorial by Ruffles and Stuff just fits my taste.

And it's 3D. You don't even need any glasses. Check it out HERE.

Why didn't I think of that #15 - Necklace Holder

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - RustBeltThreads

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Aqua Blue Instant Library Collection Decorative Books Photography Props Teal Blue Green Sea

Have you ever had the necklace knot? You know what I'm talking about. It where they all hug up in your bag and twist and turn into the most annoying creation ever. It's like they plan it just to make you mad. And the only way to untangle them is to just randomly pull and twist until you either figure it out or chunk it across the room. Anybody with me? Well this is a great organization idea that pretty much uses items you already have.

Materials: Shower hooks (S hooks) and towel holder - because let's be honest who hangs up their towels?

Happy Wednesday!

My Monday #7 - Water Cooler Plant

#1 - SHOP of the DAY - LimeGreenLemon

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Birdhouse Bird house Upcycled Red Enamel Porcelain Soda Pot with Found Objects Metal Recycled Objects OOAK

If your from Texas you know what Canton is. It is a magical fairy land for crafters, decorators, anybody female and male alike to go out and explore the wonders of new and junk all in one. Its amazing and it happens once a month. I went this weekend. My favorite part is the "old" Canton where you can still bargain for treasures that could very much qualify for trash but with a little love can be amazing. I'll show you one today and the other one next week after I have finished my master plan for it.

Find#1 - Old metal water cooler with stand. $50. Winning.

Plan:
I am going to buy a fun colorful potted plant and with quite a bot of dirt and some styrofoam to lift it up I will have a wonderful entry piece.

Happy Monday!

Tutorial Thursday #21 - QR Code

#1 -  SHOP of the DAY - OneStitchAway

#2 - ITEM of the DAY - Seafoam Green Recycled Geek Gear Blank Floppy Disk Mini Notebook

I have a smartphone. An I phone to be exact and it may be my best friend. I have other friends, don't worry, but if I leave my phone at home or put it where I can't find it - panic sets it. A deep searing panic as I run and make my husband call her and we are united at last. Sad. But since half of America is just like me I thought this tutorial is kinda fun. Sometimes I scan QR codes and gets deals and fun videos - so why not as a shop owner or even a blogger set up one just for your peeps? I'm gonna try it.

Happy Thursday!
